[h=2]Snorkelers and Sharks, French Polynesia [/h] Photograph by Tim Mckenna, Your Shot This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures In Moorea, French Polynesia, the warm, turquoise-blue waters are often the place for some special encounters. Swimming among the sharks, the rays, and the varied variety of fish is quite easy. This shot was taken from a boat with a remote-controlled drone.

"But the little guys are part of our family. What we're doing is important."
[h=2]Butterfly, Texas [/h] Photograph by Melanie Huff, Your Shot This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures I captured this image while visiting the butterfly exhibit in Houston, Texas. I noticed this leaf being illuminated by the sun and was just hoping a butterfly would land for a few seconds so I could get a few shots. I'm glad I was patient.
[h=2]Coyote, Yellowstone National Park [/h] Photograph by Timothy Brooks This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures With a strong vision and sense of smell, and the ability to reach up to 40 miles per hour, coyotes are symbolic of adventure. I was fortunate enough to find this wild coyote while visiting Yellowstone National Park. It leaped and ran under tree branches and between boulders. I made sure not to disturb the coyote, and when it lay down on top of a hill I was able to include the coyote's environment in the background. This image displays the coyote's vast habitat, and a sense of mysteriousness and exploration, through its single eye staring back at the camera.
[h=2]Flamingos, Mexico [/h] Photograph by Klaus Nigge, National Geographic This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures Flamingos, fiercely loyal in wild flocks, move in unison when there is a threat. Here, near Sisal, Mexico, a research plane is passing overhead. Several major breeding groups live in estuaries around the Caribbean and beyond.

[h=2]Rabbit, Oregon [/h] Photograph by Matt Brigham, Your Shot This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures I was driving in Oregon when a rabbit crossed paths with my car. I slammed on the brakes and stopped while the bunny shot across the rest of the road. I thought "why not?" and pulled out my camera while it brushed itself off, and it appeared it was praying when I captured the photo.
[h=2]Bottlenose Dolphins, Mexico [/h] Photograph by Garland Sutton, Your Shot This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures We encountered a pod of bottlenose dolphins near Los Islotes in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The shot was taken from the deck of the National Geographic Sea Bird, where I was working as a deckhand for the months of February and March.
[h=2]Wild Horses, France [/h] Photograph by Marco Carmassi, Your Shot This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures I've been a photographer for more than 25 years. This is an image from my "Camargue Wild Horses" collection, composed of around 50 photos. I took it around a month ago during my trip to the Camargue Nature Park, where I had the luck to shoot these wonderful animals in their natural environment. I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon 70-200mm L lens.
