Arsenal transfer news:
Talks opened for Viktor Gyokeres but striker hands them blow
Arsenal are chasing their first-ever European trophy as Mikel Arteta’s side eye Champions League victory, with the boost that success would also bring in the transfer market
Arsenal’s summer transfer business is already taking shape.
Mikel Arteta’s side are chasing the club’s first-ever European trophy as they prepare for the Champions League semi-final against PSG. But behind the scenes, the wheels are already being put in motion in the transfer window.
Arsenal’s reluctance to sign a striker appears to be set to finally come to an end this summer with the club’s new sporting director Andrea Berta keeping tabs on multiple targets, and he has reportedly made an early move for their top priority.

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in an early summer swoop.
According to Football Insider, negotiations are already taking place behind the scenes to convince the Swede and put together a package to Sporting for his signature after the 26-year-old became the Gunners’ top target.
Gyokeres has 34 goals in 29 Liga Portugal games this season and Arsenal are looking to move fast to beat the competition.
Arsenal are reportedly looking to add strength and depth at centre-back this season as Arteta looks to cover any absence of William Saliba or Gabriel.
As per TBR, Arsenal are looking at Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and Brentford’s Nathan Collins.
Collins would likely be the cheaper option, with the 23-year-old joining the Bees in 2023 in a £23m deal. Meanwhile, Huijsen is a subject of interest from elite clubs around Europe as the 20-year-old impresses in his first season in the Premier League.
The Spain international has a reported £50m release clause in his Cherries contract.
Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams has been a key target for Arteta as he looks to bolster Arsenal’s frontline, but the Spaniard has dropped a major hint that he wants to remain at the San Mames next season.
Williams said: “We have the goal of winning the Europa League and, next year, to crush the Champions League. Little by little.”
Bilbao face Manchester United in the semi-final of the Europa League, but also have a route into the Champions League through La Liga, with them currently fourth in the table.
